Bhubaneswar, Odisha – Professor Biswajeet Pattanayak, a distinguished professor at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and an internationally renowned management guru, has been elected to the Council of Management Board of the All India Management Association (AIMA). This prestigious election marks yet another milestone in Professor Pattanayak’s illustrious career, further solidifying his influence in the field of management education.

Prior to this, Professor Pattanayak has twice served as the chairman of the Southeast Asia continent of the American Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (AACSB), showcasing his leadership on a global platform. His new role at AIMA will span the next two years, during which he aims to contribute significantly to the development and governance of management practices across India.

Professor Pattanayak’s academic journey is remarkable. He has held senior positions at IIM Lucknow, IIM Indore, and IIM Mumbai, enriching the institutions with his expertise in human resource development. He is a prolific author with 27 management books to his name and has contributed 106 research articles to both national and international journals, reflecting his deep understanding and innovative approach to management studies.

His contributions have been widely recognized. Professor Pattanayak has served on the Board of Governors for Guru Ghasidas Central University and Rajasthan Central University, appointments made by the President of India, acknowledging his expertise and commitment to education.

Among his numerous accolades, Professor Pattanayak has received the national and international Dewang Mehta Best Management Professor Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award by the World Human Resource Congress. In 2016, he was honoured with the Teaching Excellence Award by the US Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs, highlighting his exceptional teaching abilities and contributions to management education.

In a significant move, Professor Pattanayak resigned from his position as Director of the Indian Institute of Bank Management of the Reserve Bank of India to return to Odisha. There, he established the Asian School of Business Management (ASBM) under the framework of IIM. ASBM’s recognition as a university by the state government stands as a testament to his vision and dedication to advancing management education in India.
