Bhubaneswar, 9th Nov 2013: Human resource management is undergoing a massive transformation. So deep rooted market analysis along with induction and multi-skilling training are the need of the hours. This can  pave the way for economic and sustainable  development, said  Mr. SC Padhy, Director HR , Nalco, while inaugurating the National HR Conclave-2013 on the theme ‘Building high performance team- The leadership challenge’, organized by Asian School of Business Management (ASBM).

Addressing the future management professional of the country, he said, “Listen more and speak less. Involve all stake holders in the developmental process. See the change, lead the change and also make a change. ”

Lauding the efforts of ASBM for organizing the National HR Conclave Mr. PC Panigrahi, Director Personnel, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited said, “There are n-numbers of challenges in the world. Through better strategies, we can overcome from all these challenges.”

Stressing on the best HR practices, Mr. Panigrahi further added, “Companies with its innovative HR practices and skilled human resources can lessen impact of recession.”

Emphasizing on today’s competitive market Dr. Saroj Mohapatra, Vice-President HR, Jindal Steel and Power limited said, “In the era of globalisation, companies are becoming more competitive. So there is need for dynamic and productive HR professionals, having the ability of crisis-management. Besides, Investment should be made in research and development activities to meet the challenges of global economy.”

Illustrating human resource of the company as the vital part of an organization, he said, “Employee-friendly Companies grow well. Employees play pivotal role behind the success of a company.”

Expressing concern over the global economic meltdown Prof. (Dr) Biswajeet Pattanayak, Founder and Director ASBM said, “Recession has robbed the economic development of many countries.  Good HR practices along with efficient professionals, cost-control measures and communication can combat the recession.”

Mr. G. Upadhyaya, Former CMD Nalco advised student to utilize their knowledge for sustainable development of the society.

The inaugural session was followed by two technical sessions during the day. The first session stressed on ‘HR is grooming the next gen-leader.’ There were eminent professionals like Mr. Amit Singh, MD, Gradient Training Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Rajesh Jain, Vice-President HR, SREI Infra Ltd, Mr. Jagannath Khuntia, General Manager HR Odisha Cement Limited addressed the participants.

The second session on ‘HR is creating Recession Resistant Organization’ was addressed by Mr. M Ramakrishna, MD ZCS Consulting  Limited , Hyderabad,  Mr. PK Mohanty, Joint General Manager HR, Essar Steel (Odisha) Limited and  Ms. Malini Sarvanan, Head HR Doosan Power Systems.

Many delegates from across the country have attended the conference.

On this occasion, Dean ASBM Prof. Kalyan S. Ray, Convenor Prof. Sibananda Mishra, Co-Convenors National HR Conclave -2013 Prof. Saswati Tripathy and Prof.Haradhan Das and student and faculty members of ASBM were present.
