ASBM 10th Batch inaugurated by KPMG CEO

The 10th batch of Asian School of Business Management, Bhubaneswar was inaugurated on 5th August, 2015 by Mr. Richard Rekhy, Chief Executive Officer, KPMG India in a solemn ceremony. On his first visit to any business school in Odisha, Mr. Rekhy appreciated the role played by ASBM in promoting management education and thereby placing Bhubaneswar on the educational map of the country. While emphasizing on team spirit, he said that that the corporate world wants a spirit of collaboration, and not a spirit of competition. “Do not work for your own success”, he advised the students, and said, “When you work for the success of the team, your own success will automatically come through”. He also asked the students to keep pace with change, as otherwise one will simply become a part of history. Further he said that if somebody loves what he is doing, it no longer remains a job. It then becomes a passion, and passion can make a person do unimaginable things.

Member OPSC Brigadier Laxmi Charan Pattanayak attended the Programme as a Guest of Eminence. He explained the value of endeavour and hard work. “There is no real shortcut in life”, he said, and added, “Shortcut may lead to quick success, but the fall will also be quick, and will be very painful”. He congratulated the students for having joined ASBM for their management study and wished them a bright future.

In his welcome address, Prof. Biswajeet Pattanayak, Founder and Director of ASBM, delineated the necessity of establishing in the eastern part of the country a quality institution like ASBM benchmarking the IIMs. He urged upon the students to develop positive attitude and to translate knowledge into skill to add value to the society. He spoke about discipline, and explained that only discipline of action is not enough. Rather there should be all-round discipline – discipline of perception, discipline of mind and discipline of thought, which should precede discipline of action.

The guests were introduced by Prof. Kalyan Shankar Ray, Dean of the Institute, and Prof. Manmath Nath Samantaray, Chairman, PG Council, proposed a vote of thanks. The event was anchored by Ms. Khusbu Agarwal, a student of PGDM.
