Dr. Biswajeet Pattanayak
Subject Area – Organisational Behaviour & Human Resource Management Dr. Biswajeet Pattanayak is the former Professor of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore & Lucknow. He is a Ph.D. and D.Litt. in Organisational Behaviour, D.Sc. in Management Science and is a Fellow of All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi. He has completed certificate Programme in Stress Management from IIM Ahmedabad and on Occupational Psychology from Central Labour Institute, Govt. of India, Mumbai. He has also completed the Certified Evaluators Programme of ACBSP held at Atlanta, USA. Prof. Pattanayak has received the prestigious International Teaching Excellence Award for 2016 instituted by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programmes (ACBSP), USA, as one among the top ten management educators of the world, and the only one from India. He has been appointed by the Hon'ble President of India as a member of the Courts (the highest bodies of Governance) of Central University of Rajasthan and Guru Ghasidas Central University, Chhattisgarh. He is an elected member to the Council of Management of All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi. He has held several academic and administrative positions in a career spanning over 26 years which include Vice-Chancellor of KIIT University, Director of Indian Institute of Bank Management, Guwahati (an RBI institution), and Group HR Head of the Essar Group. He had also worked for National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai, and Steel Authority of India Limited. Popularly known as the ‘LAGAAN Professor’ after his innovation in teaching through introduction of 'Lagaan' movie in the course curriculum of IIM – Indore, Prof. Pattanayak has to his credit more than 85 research publications in national and international referred Journals and 23 books published by well-known publishers like Prentice Hall, Sage, Excel Books and Bloomsbury. His book ‘Creating Performing Organisation' has been a global best seller of Amazon.com. His papers are published in reputed international journals like Organisation Development Journal (USA), HRD International (UK), International Journal of Psychology (UK), International Journal of HRD & Management (UK) etc. He has presented a number of papers and also Chaired sessions both in National and International Conferences. He, being a popular trainer, has conducted a large number of senior management Programme for more than hundred companies. He has also undertaken several consulting assignments for many companies and World Bank.
He has been honoured with citation by noted award winning writers Mr. Amitav Ghosh and Mrs. Shobhaa De on behalf of the Arya Vedant Society for his seminal contribution to the field of management. He is the recipient of several awards and accolades, to name but a few “Decaan Herald Award for Best Teacher in Management, 2008”, “Dewang Mehta Award for Best Professor in HRM by Dewang Mehta Foundation, 2008”, “Decan Herald Best Teacher in HR & OB Award, 2005”, “SRUJANI Creativity Award of SAIL”, “SULZER Man of IE National Award in Human Resource” of NITIE and “Career Award” of AICTE.
