Dr. Girish Prasad Swain

Dr. Girish Prasad Swain holds an MA and an M.Phil. degree in Political Science from Utkal University. A research study titled ‘From Baton to Brutality to Agent of Social Change: Modified Role of Collector in Changing Perspectives’ earned him the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the same university. He has also been awarded a PG Diploma in Rural Development (PGDRD) by Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. He possesses professional credentials in ‘Training of Trainers’ from the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, and on ‘Portuguese Communication’ from the Berlitz School of International Languages, Frankfurt (Germany). He has also been trained at the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), the National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), and the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCID). Dr Swain started his professional career with Prasar Bharati more than three decades back. He then shifted to the development sector and worked for CARE-India, CYSD, and the Sahabhagi Vikash Abhiyan (Campaign for Participatory Development). Dr. Swain’s foray into academia began at the Asian School of Business Management, where he worked for six years. Subsequently, he was associated with the Gopabandhu Academy of Administration and the State Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, both of which are under the Government of Odisha. He has also served as a resource person for various reputed organisations, including the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy, the Madhusudan Das Regional Academy of Financial Management, the Institute of Entrepreneurship Development, and the State Institute of Health and Family Welfare.
