Dr. Ranjan Kumar Bal

A former Vice-Chancellor of ASBM University, Prof. Ranjan Kumar Bal has three and a half decades of rich teaching experience at Utkal University, including 18 long years as a Professor. He had worked earlier for the Reserve Bank of India and Andhra Bank. Dr. Bal has been awarded M.Com. and M.Phil. degrees in Commerce and Ph.D. in Business Administration from Utkal University. He has successfully completed a Faculty Development Programme at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad. Prof. Bal has been a visiting professor at several institutions, including the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong; S P Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMER), Mumbai; and XIM University, Bhubaneswar. He has also worked as a resource person for programmes conducted by UGC-NET; Research Funding Council of UGC, Tribhuvan University (Nepal), Pokhara University (Nepal), and the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). He has published 84 research papers in national and international journals and authored seven books on Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Business Mathematics, and Statistics. He has participated in around 30 international and more than 100 national conferences and presented papers. Dr. Bal has successfully supervised 32 research scholars for Ph.D. and 47 for M.Phil. He is an active member of the Indian Accounting Association and served as its President in 2006-07. Areas of Academic Interest – Cost and Management Accounting, Accounting Standards, Corporate Governance, Financial Statements and Corporate Reporting, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Micro-Credit.
