ASBM University organized the 9th National MarkLogistics Symposium on 30th November 2019 on the pertinent theme- Supply Chain Optimization: Attract, Engage and Delight Customers. The symposium was inaugurated by Mr. V.S. Manimaran, Managing Director, Visskan Aviation Group, Bangalore and Mr. Subrat Tripathy, CEO, Adani, Dhamra Port, Odisha. Mr. V.S. Manimaran in his address enlightened on the admixture of logistics with technological advances to overcome the daunting challenges that lie ahead. Mr.Manimaran drawing from his rich experience in the aviation industry, elaborated on the changing dynamics of the need for expansive role of marketing and logistics in the prospective future market. In his address, Mr. Subrat Tripathy emphasized on the importance of logistical platform in order to have a robust economical growth. He spoke at large about the need for intermodality within the logistical framework and also vivaciously stressed on the areas of strategy, cost and effectiveness to have a formidable logistics in India.

The Guest of Honor, Mr. Anjani Kant, Chief-Projects, Subarnrekha Port Pvt. Ltd.of Tata Group, Odisha in his address extensively spoke on the need for massive investment in the infrastructure in the domain of logistics so as to attract and delight the potential customers. He evocatively spoke on the significance of maritime trade and how ports play a crucial role in the country as maximum trade is done through it.  

President, ASBM University, Prof, (Dr.) Biswajeet Pattanayak in his presidential address said that, there is immense scope and galore of opportunities that lie in the field of Logistics and Supply Chain in the coming days. Further he added that, the Govt. of India policy may reduce the cost of logistics to a single digit benchmarking international standards. He also stressed on the fact that, logistics & supply chain optimization is the only way to attract, engage and delight the customers.

The theme of the symposium was introduced by the Vice Chancellor, ASBM University, Prof. (Dr). Kalyan Shankar Ray and he spoke on the importance of integrating marketing and logistics in the present industry scenario.

The plenary session of the symposium was graced by eminent Supply Chain practitioners like Dr. Kamalesh Mishra, Managing Director, Abba Kaba Overseas (P) Ltd., Odisha, Mr. Hemant Shetti, Chief Operating Officer, Visskan Logistics Services Pvt. Ltd., Pune, Mr. Subhra Arabinda Mohanty, Enterprise Architect, TCS Ltd., Bhubaneswar, and Mr. Sajan Singh, Zonal Head for Business Development and Customer Service-East, Gati KWE, Kolkata.

The latest issue of ASBM Journal of Management, January- December, 2019 was released on this occasion. Dr. Sitanath Raiguru, Coordinator of 9th National MarkLogistics Symposium, introduced the guests and Co-coordinator; Dr. Pratap Kumar Pati proposed the vote of thanks. It was attended by delegates from the academic and industry, students and faculty members.
