“In today’s era books are not enough to teach anyone a lesson.” Considering this notion, the Lagaan Professor Biswajeet Pattanayak adopted the unique “Bhuvan’s Management Mantras”. Oscar nominated Lagaan aided to teach modern management mantras in leadership and team building. Gone are the days when student used to just flip over pages to explore something new and later dissect them in their classrooms.
Professor Biswajeet Patanayak, who taught ‘Human Behaviour at Work’ at the Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIM-I), in 2001 believed that Bhuvan, the character played by Aamir, is an apt case study for his first-year students. He mentioned, “Instead of giving my students examples which bear little relevance to their local business conditions, I thought they would connect better with an indigenous case study.” So, he hand-picked a case-study for a desi movie that carried real worth at a management school.
Further he said “The way Bhuvan goes about recruiting his team members is a perfect corporate lesson. He identifies hidden talents when others see none, and that’s precisely what companies expect from their recruitment managers.”
