6th National HR Colloquium at ASBM

Asian School of Business Management, Bhubaneswar organized 6th National Management Colloquium – HR on 22nd October 2016 in its premises. The colloquium was organized on the theme “Renew HR: Thought to Reality” with sub-theme “Multi-generational and cultural diversity” and “Redefining Loyalty and commitment”

The colloquium was inaugurated by Dr. Prasanna Kumar Patsani, Hon’ble MP, Bhubaneswar as chief guest of the occasion by “lighting the lamp of wisdom”. In his speech he urged all the audience about the art of being organized. In this era of uncertainty, effective human resources management is becoming a challenge to society. Old is always gold. So the pace of development should not be in alienation to our age old practices.

Prof. (Dr.) Biswajeet Pattanayak, Director ASBM and Chairman of the Colloquium said in his welcome address, while introducing the theme that the HR needs to be realigned to next generation (Gen Y). This flexibility and readiness to new environment has changed the concept of loyalty. The concept of organizational loyalty has changed to professional loyalty and contract to psychological contract. Today more strategic component is enabling change. More and more young generation are instilling the process of innovation by their creativity. So the motivational factor has also changed from giving inspiration to ignite innovation.

Dr. Ashok Kumar Sahu, Former Executive Director-HR, NALCO and Director, Learning and Development Global graced the occasion as Guest of Eminence. In his deliberation, he emphasized on unlimited potential of human resources. He said you must manage yourselves with awareness, desire, inspire and action. He redefines human resources manager as ‘human response manager’.  He also said that purpose has to be pursued as it is far ahead of just profit.

There were two technical session on the sub-theme “Multi-Generational and Cultural Diversity” and “Redefining Loyalty and Commitment”. The speaker in the technical sessions were Dr. P. K. Rath, Deputy Chief, Deputy Labour Commissioner (Central), Odisha, Mr. Devdutta Sarma, Head-HR, Satyam Venture Engineering Services, Mr. Aashish Kumar Mishra, Vice President & Head-HR, Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys Ltd, Mr. A.N. Verma, GM-HR, National Thermal Power Corporation, Mrs. Swayam Prava Mohanty, OAS(S), Deputy Secretary, Panchayati Raj Department, Govt. of Odisha, Mr. Paritosh Mishra, Vice President-HR, AEC and Head-HR, OPGC who debated and oriented the students with a lot of useful information on Human Resources Management.

The guests were introduced by Prof. Bhakta Bandhu Dash, coordinator of the colloquium and Vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Sibananda Mishra, Co-coordinator of the colloquium. The inaugural session was anchored by student of ASBM Ms. Abhilasha Pratihary and was attended by academician, research scholars, corporate executives and students in large number.
