ASBM National Management Colloquium on Finance

The 6th National Management Colloquium on Finance with the theme – ‘Managing Money for a Better Tomorrow’ with sub-themes ‘Corporate Money Management’ and ‘Personal Money Management’ concluded on 12th November 2016 in Asian School of Business Management, Bhubaneswar.

This colloquium was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Ms. Devika Nayar, IA & AS, Principal Accountant General, Odisha by lighting the ‘lamp or wisdom’. In her address she said money is a resource for all while elucidating difference between wealth versus money. So everybody should try to manage their inflow and outflow. She also focussed on government money management procedure to develop infrastructure of the nation.

Shri T Sudhakar Pai, CMD, Kurlon Enterprises Limited shared his rich experience about effective money management. He urged to have a long term goal with hard work so that money will follow you. He further said that life is very challenging and these challenges will make you a better person.

Prof (Dr.) Biswajeet Pattanayak, Director ASBM and Chairman of the colloquium discussed in his welcome address about the current scenario of demonitization in India and the paramount importance of managing money. Wealth creation can eradicate poverty. He urged to create wealth by just means because means justify the end. Our earned money should give us quality life.

Dr Manoj Fogla, Sr. Chartered Accountant, Key Note Speaker said that accumulation of wealth with high moral value adds value to money. Money is tangible material so purpose of its creation should be identified. Now money can buy money but invest judiciously.

In his address Mr. Sanjaya Bhatnagar, Regional Directory (Odisha Circle), SBI Life Insurance Co. Limited, Guest of Eminence on the occasion made an information rich presentation on personal money management. He shared his valuable experience on the vitality of saving for being financially independent, stating that one should learn to earn his/her freedom.

Mr. Pabitra Mohan Mahapatra, Former Chairman, Mormugao Port Trust, Mr. Rajiv  Shekhar Sahoo, SRB Associates, Bhubaneswar. Prof (Dr.) Shakti Ranjan Mohapatra, Dean, Faculty of Management Studies, Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Mr. Lingaraj Bisoi, DGM, NGB, Bank of India, Mr. Chitta Ranjan Panda, Regional Head, SBI Funds Management Pvt. Ltd., spoke extensively in the technical sessions that followed. 

Prof Padmanave Mohapatra, Coordinator, 6th NMC-Finance, 2016 gave introduction of the guests and highlighted on the theme of the colloquium and Prof. Sipra Karmakar, Co-coordinator concluded the session with a vote of thanks.

Prof (Dr.) Biswajeet Pattanayak, Director, ASBM felicitated the dignitaries with the presentation of mementos and the session was anchored by Ms Abhilasa Pratihary, Ms Ankita Parida and Ms Sumana Bose, students of ASBM in presence of all members of faculty, students and staff, delegates and members of media and press. The Colloquium was attended by delegates from industry and media.
